AVG can't get rid of a virus
I use an anti-virus program called AVG, and it has found aTrojanDialer.10.AP
virus in my C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder. Only AVG picks
it up and I don't particularly want to format my hard disk and reinstall
Windows. Can you tell me how to get rid of it please?
Q12
Internet Explorer home page has been replaced by about:blank
Some days ago I found that my regular Internet home page was being repeatedly
replaced with a page entitled 'about:blank Microsoft Internet Explorer'.
The page certainly doesn't look like the Microsoft Internet Explorer page.
The 'about:blank' page is quickly followed by no fewer than three pop-up
boxes that tell me that (a) my computer is infected with spyware and AdaWare,
(b) the Systems Performance Wizard has detected that my computer has been
infected with spyware and (c) my computer has been exposed to parasites
known as spyware. I am invited to click an OK box to remove these.
I have tried to reset UKOnline as the homepage using Start, Settings,
Control Panel, Internet Options. On the few occasions when I have been
able to access UKOnline, using Tools, Internet Options, it has been to
no avail. The 'about:blank' page now pops up when I try to access my eBay
account.
I have checked my system using both an up-to-date AVG and Norton Antivirus
and neither program detected a virus. This error is driving me to distraction
and I would be grateful if you could help me put things right.
