Q. Why should I buy a PC from you when I can get a big named brand from Dell or HP for the same price or cheaper?
A.
Is a well known brand necessarily a better product than a not so well known brand? Would you buy a Hotpoint washing machine rather than a Miele if the price was similar, or a Rover car rather than a Seat, some do and then spend years wishing they hadn't. Would you buy a PC branded Lenovo? No; well, they have been manufacturing PC's for other manufacturers for years and since their latest take-over (IBM no less) are know selling IBM PC's under their true name.

Q. I know several local companies that sell unbranded PC's that they build themselves and some are very good, but I worry that the guarantee might be worthless.
A. Some locally built PC's are good value, usually the mid to high priced ones where the company can select the parts they know will be reliable and build the customer a bespoke PC. But cheap PC's built down to a price are very different, it is easy to buy reconditioned or even second hand parts through the trade to build a cheap PC. Once built, they often have no driver or windows CD's, no written warranty and installed with illegal versions of Windows that will not validate and eventually stop your PC from working.
We are the UK distributors for the Viper range of PC's (www.viper.eu.com), we take a smaller profit than if we built the PC's ourselves, but in return, we get a professionally built product using all the modern factory techniques of high build quality and component quality control. As distributors for the UK, Viper are happy for us maintain their PC's to their demanding standards and have never yet refused a warranty claim for a failed part during the warranty period.
We don't have to hide behind the foreign call centres with incomprehensible tech support or 20 pages of exclusions clauses on our warranties, as the large manufacturers do. Viper are easy to do business with and make it easy for us to give our customer the best of both worlds.

Q. I can go into PC World and see lots of different PC's on display, what can you show me?
A. We have a small display area in our workshop where you can see and try out the Viper range of PC's that we sell. Our laptops are mostly built in the UK to customers orders so we don't have any on display. To make up for this we try and show large screen pictures of all laptops on this website (Example). We don't have any salesman, even our sales director is an engineer, so don't expect to be overawed by our marketing skills, but do expect an honest answer to any questions you may have.

Q. Can I pick up a PC from you this afternoon and will I be able to get it working myself?
A. We try and keep all the most popular models in stock. Viper allow us to upgrade various specifications to meet customers requirements, without infringing the warranty, so modifications like this may take a few hours. All the connectors on the Viper PC's are colour coded so should not present a problem. However, if you live or work in our area, one of our own engineers will deliver and connect your PC for free. If you wish him to transfer data from your old PC or install additional software, for example, he can do this and our normal on-site rates apply.

Q. My last PC came from a big named store and had half of it's storage space full up with cheap games and unwanted software, are your PC's any different.
A. Hard drives are generally much larger than they used to be, so even the operating system and all supplied software rarely exceed 10% of the available space. Even so, who needs Junk software, well the big manufacturers do. They get paid by the software vendors for each piece of junk they add to your new PC. Our supplied software falls into two categories. Antivirus/antispyware and office suite.

Antivirus/antispyware: It is a well known fact that nowadays, an unprotected PC on the Internet will take on average of 20 minutes to collect some malware. Not a problem (usually) in itself but the shear numbers will soon reduce your brand new PC to the speed of your old one. All Viper PC's are supplied with both an antivirus and a separate antispyware program. These do need re-registering annually but are free for the life of the machine. If you purchase a laptop from us and it arrives direct from the manufacturer without any antivirus/antispyware, you can download it for free from our website or if you wish to bring the laptop into our workshop, we will install it for you at no charge. We believe that it is irresponsible to sell a PC these days without antivirus and antispyware software installed.

Office Suite: Five years ago when a PC cost £1,500 it was commercially viable to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.) in the package. PC's now cost a quarter of this, unfortunately Microsoft still charge the same for Office so including this is no longer an option. All is not lost however, Open Office is the equal to MS Office and comes free with all Viper home PC's. It will open Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents and save then in the Microsoft format if required. Many universities in the UK are now using Open Office and Microsoft have for the first time in many years, some stiff competition. This is also free to download from our website. Here.
